چکیده
Coupling of chemistry and mechanics causes large stresses deterioration in battery active particles, which undergo a phase change. The Cahn–Hilliard approach coupled to deformations provides framework theoretically investigate the underlying physics. However, solving this model is computationally expensive, so that current application limited. In article, thermodynamically consistent phase-field coupling Cahn–Hilliard-type separation developed. implemented using space time adaptive numerical solution algorithm based on finite element method. At example lithium iron phosphate, simulations are performed physical aspects solver. strong interrelation between chemistry, transformation, shown. particular, interfacial energy coefficient has major impact stress inside material. Moreover, presented outperforms classical implementations. This enables analysis demanding parameter choices multidimensional geometries.

Wall Effect in 3D Simulation Of Same Sized Particles Packing
In this paper, the effects of container size on the porosity of random loose packing of mono size particles have been investigated using an Event Dynamics (ED) based model. Simultaneous effects of square container walls on particles packing and their order are also investigated. Our simulation results indicate higher container size will increase the total packing factor and high density regions...
متن کاملSimultaneous Control of Active and Reactive Powers of Vanadium Redox Flow Battery Systems in Flexible Microgrids
This paper discusses the control of flexible microgrids, consisting of a Redox Flow Batteries (RFB) and a new power conditioning system (PCS) for the RFB. Considering the importance of energy storage, this study is essential in power systems that are developed cautiously. RFB is connected to power system by a DC/DC or DC/AC converter to produce a DC voltage. It is very important that this conve...
متن کاملNumerical Simulation of Intercalation-Induced Stress in Li-Ion Battery Electrode Particles
Severe, particle-level strains induced during both production and cycling have been putatively linked to lifetime limiting damage in lithium-ion cells. Because of the presently unknown contributions of manufacturing and intercalation induced stresses in Li cells, this correlation is critical in determining optimal materials and manufacturing methods for these cells. Both global and localized lo...
متن کاملCoupling methods for efficient simulation of spatial population dynamics
Coupling is a widely used technique in the theoretical study of interacting stochastic processes. In this paper I present an example demonstrating its usefulness also in the efficient computer simulation of such processes. I first describe a basic coupling technique, applicable to all kinds of processes, which allows trading memory use for a limited speedup. Next, I describe a specialized varia...
